About
Special Educational Needs

At Unity College, we believe in teaching and learning in such a way that each individual child strives to achieve above and beyond expectations through a balanced and differentiated provision. This includes those children with special educational needs.

Definition

SEND is where provision is put in place that is different from or additional to that normally available to students of the same age.  It is designed to help and support young people with learning needs or disabilities to access the curriculum.

Aims

To remove barriers to learning.
To put effective provision in place.
To have high expectations of students with SEND.
To enable students with SEND to participate, learn and make progress.
