RELIGIOUS STUDIES
Students study AQA GCSE Religious Studies A – the full specification can be found here: AQA Religious Studies Specification
This will be graded from 9-1 and will comprise of two exams, 1 hour 45 minutes in length.
Students will learn how religion, philosophy and ethics form the basis of our culture, and develop valuable skills that will help prepare them for further study.
Students must take assessments in the following two components in the same series:
Component 1: The study of religions: beliefs, teachings and practices from two religions (Christianity and Islam).
Component 2: Thematic studies – A selection of religious, philosophical and ethical studies themes:
- Relationships and families
- Religion and life
- Religion, crime and punishment and Religion
- Human rights and social justice.
GCSE Religious Studies is valued by Colleges and Higher Education not to mention many employers who require their employees be able to investigate, interpret and reflect. It also helps to develop good communication skills, self-understanding and empathy.
