Subject Vision
All students will have an outstanding experience of Physical Education and school sport at Unity College.  All students will be inspired to engage in physical activity and school sport, maximise their potential in physical education and be encouraged to develop positive attitudes for leading a healthy active lifestyle.This will be achieved through ensuring a diverse curriculum, an inclusive approach and by providing outstanding teaching and learning through school sport opportunities.

Edexcel – GCSE Physical Education (Full Course)

Level 2 VCERT in Health & Fitness

This qualification is designed for learners with an interest in health and fitness.  It will provide learners with experience of using different training tehcniques and methods to enable them to use these within further education or apprenticeships.  It will also provide them with the opportunity to develop and experience their own fitness programme.

This qualification aims to:

  • focus on an applied study of the health and fitness industry sector
  • offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a significant core of knowledge and theoretical content with broad-ranging applicability
  • provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and technical skills

The objectives of this qualification are to help learners to:

  • prepare, plan and develop a personal health and fitness programme
  • understand the benefits of fitness
  • know the functions of the main body systems
  • understand the benefits of a healthy balanced diet and how it affects lifestyles

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress onto further Level 3 qualifications and A Levels, such as:

  • A Level in Physical Education
  • Diploma in Exercise, Health and Fitness Studies
