A Special Remembrance Poppy 1914 – 1918

Restart a Heart

Throughout the day on Thursday 18/10 and Friday 19/10 255 staff and students have been trained in the basics of CPR by a team of volunteers from North West Ambulance Service, Lancashire Fire Service and Lancashire Constabulary.  The student feedback has been massively positive.  They were also kind enough to allow one of our year 11’s to join the team to support his future aspirations to be a paramedic.

Under 14’s Lancashire Cup

Under 14’s Lancashire Cup rugby game against Maricourt After early pressure from Unity, the deadlock was broken by a try from debutant winger Daniel Maymond, before adding his second after sprinting the entire length of the pitch. Unity then withstood a large amount of pressure from the away team, with both forwards and backs demonstrating fearless tackles and commitment for their team mates. Visit To Thomas Whitham

On Monday, the 24th of September, 45 year 10 students attended a Futures fair at Thomas Whitham Sixth Form College. At this event, they were given the opportunity to talk to a range of post 16 and higher education providers including the Universities from Liverpool, York, Leeds, Huddersfield, Edge Hill and Blackburn. Furthermore, there were also opportunities to talk to alternative options including Futures 2000 who offer apprenticeships and UCFB who specialise in degrees using a Football coaching model. Apprentice of the Year Award

Female Apprentice of the Year Award TEENAGER Sophie McHallam proved herself in a man’s world by scooping the title of First Year Engineering Apprentice with Themis at Burnley College. She works for high-tech engineering firm Emerson & Renwick in Church, which this year is celebrating its centenary, won the top Beacon award at Hyndburn Business Awards and has its busiest ever order book. Sophie, 17, from Burnley, is a former student at the town’s Unity College. GCSE Results 2018

Best Ever Results Unity College is celebrating again today after receiving a further rise in their GCSE results building on from their successful Ofsted report in January 2018 in which they were judged again to be a good school. Headteacher Sally Cryer said that this is “a monumental achievement showing even further improvements from last year’s GCSE results and the best ever results for the college”.
