This section of the Unity College website is about moving on from school – either into a job or to training and further education.
There are lots of opportunities available to students when they leave Unity and it can be baffling as to what to choose. Thankfully we have a very good support system in place to help students to make the correct choices about what to do when they leave school.
A team of Young People’s Workers from the Young People’ Service regularly visit Unity College offering Year 11 students one to one advice and guidance about further education and training or moving into the field of work. The Young People’s Service website provides lots more information about their services and how they can support young people in Lancashire.
We also have regular assemblies with various organisations eg. Army and visits from staff at Blackburn College, Accrington and Rossendale College, Nelson and Colne College, and Burnley College who talk to classes of students in Years 8,9,10 and 11. Students also have the opportunity to go for taster days at colleges and sample apprenticeships in various organisations.
To support the careers services above, we also have a dedicated area of careers literature which is available to students during break and lunchtimes.
