Students will have one lesson a week on a class reader. These units of work will cover elements of the national curriculum at KS3. The units have been designed to promote an enjoyment of reading and expose students to a range of texts that enhance their cultural capital. Due to including reading lessons as part of our curriculum plan, students are studying a range of authors, at least two authors in depth each year, as per the subject content guidance for reading on the Key Stage Three national curriculum.
Year 7: Class reader 1 – Private Peaceful. Class reader 2 – Room 13.
Year 8: Class reader 1 – The Boy in Striped Pyjamas. Class reader 2 – Our Day Out.
Year 9: Class reader 1 – An Inspector Calls. Class reader 2 – Stone Cold.
