Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)

Modern Foreign Languages

Subject Vision

All students at Unity College will study a Modern Foreign Language at KS3, either French, German or Spanish. This will form a firm foundation of the skills, language and aptitude required for further study at KS4.  It will also encourage positive attitudes towards the speakers of foreign languages and a sympathetic approach to other cultures and civilizations. All students will have the opportunity to gain a formal qualification in one Modern Foreign Language and an awareness of career opportunities, involving/requiring a language, post-16 in an ever changing and increasingly competitive world. This will broaden their horizons beyond local and national boundaries. Students will have a genuine enthusiasm for and commitment to language learning.
