Burnley Youth Theatre’s Toxic

Unity College’s Year 9 students were recently treated to a performance by Burnley Youth Theatre. Four young actors, including two of the College’s own students performed the exceptionally important and powerful Toxic.  Toxic explores one of the main issues dominating the lives of young people today – toxic masculinity. This is a hard hitting piece of theatre, performed by young people, created to spark conversations and inspire change. Post-16 Pathways Evening

On Thursday 9 November 2023, the College hosted a Post-16 Pathways Evening. There were representatives from:  Burnley College  Nelson and Colne College Accrington and Rossendale College  Ask Apprenticeships Themis  Training 2000  Myerscough College Blackburn College The British Army  MPloy Careers Advice  Students together with their parents and carers attended a talk which advised on college applications, and were also given the opportunity to talk to representatives from each of the colleges and other vendors. The evening was exceptionally well-attended and feedback has been positive. We look forward to making this an annual event for Year 10 and Year 11 students.

Year 11 Reward Trip – Choc Stop

What a lovely way to end a busy half term! We treated over forty Year 11 students to a dessert of their choice at ‘Choc Stop’. We all enjoyed a wonderful afternoon surrounded by waffles, brownies, cookie dough, milkshakes and ice-cream sundaes as a big thank you for these students’ impeccable attitude to learning, behaviour, punctuality and attendance over the past half term.
