Unity College is proud to announce that one of our students has become a published poet! The Year 8 student has received a Headteacher award for this impressive achievement. Her poem was entered into the Young Writers’ Poetry Competition ‘Empowered’ in which young people, aged 11 to 18, were encouraged to write poetry which could shape someone’s life through language. Entrants to the competition were encouraged to write a poem about something that was important to them and provided them with the opportunity to express themselves freely and honestly, something which is so important for young adults. Courtney’s entry was selected to be published in the final Young Writers’ Empowered Anthology. Her poem, which she has shared below, is inspirational: it demonstrates our core values of unity, passion and respect!
