Year 7 girls netball team, participated in the Burnley High Schools Tournament competing against Shuttleworth, Hameldon, Burnley High School, Sir John Thursby and Blessed Trinity. Both teams did exceptionally well, group 1, took first place, and group 2 took seconds place. A great start to the netball fixtures ladies.

Unity College netball teams from year 7 & 8 took part in a large netball tournament held at Thomas Whitham Sixth Form. This was a successful afternoon where over 100 students from across Yorkshire, Pendle, Burnley and Blackburn participated in the event.

U13’s girls Football team competed in the Premier League Stars tournament, run by Burnley Football Club. There were over 8 schools involved from across Burnley and Pendle. Unity College came 3rd overall.

U13 girls Rugby team, travelled to Grasshoppers in Preston to compete against other Lancashire Schools. The girls had a fantastic afternoon, playing and training with other squads from across the area. Unity College came second in the whole of the tournament.

Unity College took 72 Students, to attend Burnley’s Cross Country race. The College took the town by storm, gaining fantastic team and individual scores. These being:

Year 7 Girls team came 1st overall, with three of Unity Colleges girls coming in the top 8 student. Kelsey Jackson came a spectacular 1st position, followed by Megan Rodrigez coming 3rd and Eve Waters coming in 8th place.

Year 7 Boys team came 2nd overall, with four of Unity Colleges boys coming in the top 8 overall. Matthew Jackson coming in 2nd place, Will Woodruff in 3rd place, Dillion Whittaker in 7th place, followed by Jake North in 8th place.

Combined year 8 and 9 Girls team came 4th overall, with Sophie Ashworth fantastically taking 1st place for the whole girls category for this year group.

Combined year 8 and 9 Boys team took 1st place overall with 4 boys getting into the top 8 boys, these being: 1st place Jackson McKay, 2nd place Lennon Jackson, 3rd place Kian Reid and 8th place Harrison Heaton

Combined teams from years 10 and 11 Girls took 1st place overall, with 3 girls gaining a position within the top 8 girls. Liberty Thompson came in 2nd place, Willow Bell in 6th place and Amber Day came in 7th place.

Combined teams from years 10 and 11 Boys took 4th place overall, with Charlie Ball taking 3rd place overall.

Year 7 Boys’ Football, travelled to North Halifax Grammar in the second round of the English Schools Cup, winning the tie 6-4.

Year 8 Boys’ Rugby competed in an emerging schools tournament at Preston Grasshoppers, showing great potential early in the season and only narrowly losing one game against Garstang.

Over half of the Burnley Rugby U13 training squad was made up of Unity College students as the school and club continue to develop their relationship. Many have begun playing for the squad at various age groups on Wednesdays and Sunday.
