Tuesday 17 March 2020 – Partial closure

Year 9 to stay at home

Years 7, 8, 10 and 11 to attend college as normal

In light of the government guidance anyone with symptoms of a new cough or high temperature should self-isolate for 14 days, along with members of their household. We have a significant number of staff who will be absent from work for the next 14 days due to this new guidance.

Regrettably this leaves us in a position where we are unable to operate as normal for all year groups. Having carefully considered the options, we have taken the decision to close to Yea9 today, Tuesday 17th March. We will review this decision daily and will communicate with you as soon as we can about any further closures moving forwards. Year 9 students should stay at home as per the government guidelines regarding social distancing. They can access work on line via show my homework and BBC bitesize.

If your child is in Year 7, 8, 10 or 11 Unity College will be open as normal for them today. Year 10 mock examinations will continue as planned. However, should any student present any symptoms, in line with the government guidance, they should remain at home. Some classes will not go ahead if staff are absent and students will be supervised in a room doing private study / silent reading at times.

I appreciate your support and look forward to returning to normal as soon as possible.
