Tuesday 17 March 2020 – Partial closure  Year 9 to stay at home  Years 7, 8, 10 and 11 to attend college as normal  In light of the government guidance anyone with symptoms of a new cough or high temperature should self-isolate for 14 days, along with members of their household. We have a significant number of staff who will be absent from work for the next 14 days due to this new guidance.  Regrettably this leaves us in a position where we are unable to operate as normal for all year groups. Update COVID-19 Advice

The college is taking advice from the government, Public Health England and Lancashire County Council and we are reviewing our situation daily. At the time of writing national and local guidance is that schools remain open. I will only shut the college if directed to do so by the government / Lancashire County Council. If, however, we have significant staff illness / absence I may have to have a partial closure or complete closure and this will be decided on a day to day basis. I will make a decision regarding any partial / full closure by 7.30am each day.

Message from the Headteacher

I have had the privilege and honour of working at Unity College and prior to that Towneley High school since August 1997, initially as Head of Lower School, then Deputy Headteacher before becoming Headteacher in September 2003. I have informed the governors and staff that I plan to retire in the Spring of 2022. U13 Boys Lancashire Handball Finals

The U13’s boys team competed in the Lancashire Handball Finals on Friday 28th February at Clayton Green Sports Centre, Chorley. The final comprised of 9 teams who had all won their own competitions held within their respective towns. To qualify for the finals Unity had beat both Blessed Trinity and Sir John Thirsby. The final was organised into two pools. Unity were placed in Pool A alongside 4 other schools. To qualify for the semi finals, the top two teams from each group advanced.
