The U13’s boys team competed in the Lancashire Handball Finals on Friday 28th February at Clayton Green Sports Centre, Chorley. The final comprised of 9 teams who had all won their own competitions held within their respective towns. To qualify for the finals Unity had beat both Blessed Trinity and Sir John Thirsby.

The final was organised into two pools. Unity were placed in Pool A alongside 4 other schools. To qualify for the semi finals, the top two teams from each group advanced. Unity began against Bishop Rawstorne, Chorley. The first half was tightly contested but Bishop’s took control of the second half eventually running out comfortable winners. This meant Unity faced an uphill battle to qualify for the semi finals. The next game was a close affair with Unity eventually prevailing but a second loss in the third game put an end to their hopes of qualifying due to a poor goal difference. Unity’s last game produced the best performance of the tournament with Unity beating St Bede’s, Ormskirk 7-4. This result meant that 3 of the five teams ended their group fixtures on 6 points but due to the other teams superior goal difference Unity did not progress.

The boys enjoyed the competition and competed extremely well against some of the best sides in the county.
