Unity College’s U13 Girls’ team took part in their first tournament of the year, with 15 girls from year 7 and 8 taking part. The tournament was held on the artificial pitch at Preston Grasshopper and ensured the competition could go ahead despite the heavy rain.

After a hard fought win against Blackburn Central, Unity came up against a fast St Augustine’s team and narrowly lost. The girls were able to regroup and remain confident for their next game against local rivals Blessed Trinity, which saw Unity come out on top. Their final game was another close battle and the girls finished their afternoon with a draw against Witton Park.

Despite the testing weather conditions and the fact that it was many of the girls first competitive game, they performed amazingly- with crunching tackles and good running. A particular mention must go to Macey Royal, with 6 tries throughout the afternoon and Olivia Ainsworth-McCoskery for her tough tackling.
