Y7 Football Team Success

The road to Wembley continues as the Yr7 Football team beat Westhill school from Manchester in the 4th round of the English school’s cup on Tuesday at the Prairie. Westhill dominated possession but Unity had the best chances of the game striking the inside of the post, missing a great one on one chance before finally scoring a great free kick from 30yds out which nestled in the top left-hand corner of the goal. Unity survived a second half onslaught, putting bodies on the line and a great save from the Unity goalkeeper in the last minute of the game

Oracy October

Unity College students took part in a project, Oracy October, initiated by Voice 21, our Oracy partners. The objective was to encourage students to communicate more within the lesson. We shared some of our students work with Voice 21 who recognised us as one of the best schools who took part in the project.

Lancashire cup update

Congratulations to the year 7 football team who progressed to the second round of the Lancashire cup. Unity were drawn in a group with Blessed Trinity and Shuttleworth. Unity defeated Blessed Trinity 3-0 and Shuttleworth 4-0. Unity now face St Augustine’s in the next round of the competition.

English schools cup result

Congratulations to the year 7 Football team who beat St Peters from Manchester after extra time in a tightly fought contest on Tuesday. Unity were cruising 2-0 at half time with goals from Morgan Shapland and Jack Brunt. Mr Boardman stressed the importance of a good start to the second half but two sloppy goals allowed St Peters back into the game. The away side nearly stole the victory as a free kick in the last couple of minutes grazed the cross bar. Extra Days Holiday

Attached is an updated Holiday List for 2021-2022 – Holiday List 2021-2022 The local authority contacted schools to inform us that Friday 3 June 2022 will be an additional bank holiday to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen.  Thursday 2 June will also be a bank holiday (instead of Monday 30 May 2022)   As we are already on holiday from Monday 30 May – Friday 3 June 2022 inclusive we are able to take an extra day’s holiday elsewhere in the 2021-2022 academic year – this will be Friday 29 April 2022.

Great Unity Homework Challenge Success

Over the course of lockdown, students were given the opportunity to complete a number of extra-curricular challenges for reward points, whilst those who completed all challenges would also receive a medal and entry into a prize draw. The students were given the opportunity to complete physical, reading, cooking, community, news and study-based challenges, before sending evidence of their entries to their House Leader. The quality of entries was phenomenal, with many students demonstrating their creative, intuitive, and active skills.
